How the CLICO mess can be fixed

MANY, like me, hold the Democratic Labour Party in esteem and have gratitude to the party for affording us real opportunities.

And there is much love and respect for our Prime Minister David Thompson as well. He has been in the trenches taking the lobbies a long time.

Don’t disappoint us or yourselves by making your sojourn at the helm a short, unspectacular one.

Here are a few suggestions: Stop telling us “he, she or they did it”. We know. What are you going to do about what they did? Fix the CLICO mess.

There is too much at stake here, people’s life investments, years of premium paying, the “taking down” of British American by default.

Place both companies under judicial management or, if you can, find a buyer for British American and place CLICO under judicial management.

Just as friends do not let other friends drive drunk, friends do not keep their foot firmly and implacably on your foot while your foot is on the pedal and the vehicle is heading for a cliff.

Buy, rent or borrow some proper financial consultants. Talk to the nation. A few fireside chats would not be amiss. Do not cower and deflect.

Take this as a loving but balanced critique and listen!
