Browne’s Beach, Bay Street, St Michael, was the venue for the third annual Caribbean Wellness Day.
It was again an occasion for the National Task Force On Physical Education to show Barbadians how easy it was to keep fit during a day at the beach.
“We want to show people that exercise can be a part of their daily lives. You don’t have to go to a gym,” said health promotion officer in the Ministry of Health, Larone Hyland.
Senior health promotion officer Denise Carter-Taylor added the task force was focusing more on movement and physical activity this time around.
Yesterday’s activities included dancing, aerobics, tai chi, paddleball, volleyball, cricket, frisbee, skipping and hopscotch for both children and adults.
Caribbean Wellness Day is an initiative coming out of the CARICOM Heads of Government Summit On Non-Communicable Diseases. (CA)
