THERE were goals like sand when the play-offs of the third annual Banks B3 beach soccer competition got under way last Sunday evening at Brandons Beach.
Nineteen goals were scored in the four quarter-final matches played in front of a typical large and boisterous group of supporters.
In the first quarter-final, defending champions Sand Gods FC defeated Titans 6-2, courtesy of a hat-trick from captain Tristan Parris, a double strike from Notre Dame midfielder Carl Joseph, and a lone goal from his clubmate Rudy Grosvenor.
Jason Goodridge and Kamar Small registered the goals for the Titans.
Game 2 was a bit more competitive, as one of the home teams in the tournament, Bajan Fuh Life, were edged 2-1 by southern representatives De Medics.
All three goals were scored by Gall Hill FC players. For the Medics, Sherwin Success and Jabarry “Papi” Chandler got on the scorecard, while Curtis Odle scored probably the goal of the tournament for the Brandons ballers.
De Farm sought revenge for their neighbours and easily ran over a helpless Samba Kingz team 4-0.
The Carter brothers, Jason and Barry, along with Anthony Forde and national senior team prospect Kadeem Atkins, scored for De Farm.
The final game was a “jaffer”, with tournament favourites Passoa Zeddos United going down to the BDF Sandstorm 3-2.
Double strike

The diminutive Akeem Browne scored a double and Deon Graham scored the other to blank out strikes from former national marksman Michael Forde and current national striker Rivere Williams.
This Sunday will see the curtain called on what has been another successful tournament for the B3 organisers.
The first semi-final will be played at 3:15 p.m. with Sand Gods coming up against De Farm, followed by the clash between De Medics and BDF Sandstorm.
The third-placed game will be played at 7:30 p.m., with the grand finale at 9:15 p.m. (ROG
