Give them a few lashes

MINISTER MICHAEL LASHLEY and many others are of the opinion that the death penalty is a deterrent to would-be criminals in Barbados.

My suggestion is the cat’o’nine tails whip as a stronger deterrent.

The sentence could run something along the lines that every six weeks, for six months – in public viewing – the culprits would each receive six lashes.

Human life is not considered valuable by certain beings. So, what’s one swing and one drop? The answer, the end of suffering. Not so with the “cat”.

For the rest of their lives they would be reminded of the heinous crimes they perpetuated on others.
