Six of Barbados’ top sportsmen have gained scholarships to train towards the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The six are – swimmers Bradley Ally, Martin Forde and Shawn Clarke; athlete Andrew Hinds; triathlete Jason Wilson and tennis player Darian King.
The competitors are seen as Barbados brightest prospects for gold in 2012 and they would have commenced training under the scholarship programme from September, with that programme ending in August 2012.
General secretary of the Barbados Olympic Association, Erskine Simmons, made the announcement while pointing out that this would be the first time that Hinds, Clarke, Wilson and King would be benefiting from such a programme.
