The partners of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Caribbean have a special responsibility to apply the collective skills of their regional network to help clients and their communities come through the current economic challenges.
That was one of the key messages delivered by PwC Caribbean chairman Nick Freeland to 80 partners who gathered in Barbados recently for a two-day Caribbean region partners’ meeting.
“We see evidence every day of the benefits for our clients when we bring the right skills together to solve complex problems, but we can always get better at this,” Freeland said.
“Many of our governments are focused on public sector reform and we can make a tremendous contribution to the regional development effort by providing services designed to streamline processes and introduce greater efficiencies in many areas.
Doing much work
“We are already doing much of this work in some Caribbean territories, but we must leverage this experience for the benefit of other regional governments.”
Freeland, who is also senior partner of PwC Cayman Islands, stressed the value that the PwC regional network structure created, not only for the firms’ clients, but for the firms themselves.
“We are fortunate to have an unmatched depth of resources on the ground in each Caribbean territory, and our structure has allowed us to create teams of individuals who are all on the same page in terms of service.
“With a regional board of senior partners providing oversight and direction to the efforts of our regional line of service and industry leaders, we can move quickly to make things happen for our shared clients, wherever they may be,” Freeland said.
The partners’ meeting was followed by a two-day update session on International Financial Reporting Standards for 190 partners, directors and managers from across the Caribbean, which the firms hold annually. (PR)
