TORONTO – Patrick Husbands claimed his 12th added-money win of the year when he captured the CAN$125 000 Bull Page Stakes with the two-year-old chestnut colt Bear’s Peak at Woodbine on Monday.
The 3-1 bet covered the six-furlong trip in a time of one minute, 09.99 seconds, beating the 2-1 favourite Altius by a neck.
Husbands’ win was one of a triple on the day’s ten-race Thanksgiving Day card after he also won Race 1 and Race 7.
In the feature race, however, the 36-year-old Barbadian stalked with the colt in third before setting him down for the drive at the top of the stretch and wearing down Altius in a thrilling finish.
Earlier, Husbands claimed the day’s opening event with the three-year-old bay colt Power Move after original winner Boxing Ring was disqualified for interference.
He returned to win Race 7 over 1-1/16th miles with the three-year-old bay gelding Dino Dinaro, taking the 6-1 bet to a narrow victory over the three-year-olds and over. (CMC)
