ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Two of the most recognisable faces in the West Indies side in recent times continue to feel the brunt of the selection panel’s ire.
No tickets will be booked for Ramnaresh Sarwan and Denesh Ramdin for the regional side’s first trip under new captain Darren Sammy to Sri Lanka next month.
Instead, the selectors have handed a boarding pass to Darren Bravo, the younger brother of all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, and fellow left-hander Devon Smith to see if they can fill the breach that Sarwan’s absence will create.
The selectors have also cleared pint-sized wicketkeeper/batsman Carlton Baugh Jr for take-off to see if he can give the side the runs that Ramdin has been unable to provide in recent matches.
Squad: Darren Sammy (captain), Brendan Nash (vice captain), Adrian Barath, Carlton Baugh Jr, Sulieman Benn, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Chris Gayle, Nelon Pascal, Kemar Roach, André Russell, Shane Shillingford, Devon Smith, Devon Thomas. (CMC)
