New Prime Minister Freundel Stuart today led a team of politicians and dignitaries who viewed the body of their colleague, the late Prime Minister David Thompson.
Stuart, who was sworn in last Saturday after the death of Thompson early that morning, arrived at Parliament before 8:30 a.m. where Thompson’s body was lying in state.
A number of past and present politicians were present for the viewing. Members of the Opposition Barbados Labour Party were also there including new leader Owen Arthur accompanied by his wife Julie and former leader Mia Mottley who was emotional as she filed past Thompson’s body.
Viewing continues tomorrow at Parliament, with Thompson’s body moving to Combermere School, his alma mater.
