Tourism sector needs help

Tourism is the one sector that has been punished the most in Barbados.
This harsh assessment was made by Opposition Leader Owen Arthur during his reply to the 2010 Financial Statement and Budgetary?proposals this evening.
Arthur said he has done his own analysis, adding that he has already told Government that one of the problems was not doing more for this sector.
“Tourism pays our bills,” he said.
Arthur questioned: “How can Government justify $58 million to fix the ‘backside’ of Sherbourne for a multi million dollar car park even when the man after which the facility was named says he was not in agreement. How do you do it?”
“Then you can’t find more than $21 million to deal with the needs of the tourism industry,” he continued. (CM)
