Tourism essays ‘straight from the heart’

Three students read their winning essays and received their awards during a Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association luncheon at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre today.
Joshua DaSilva-Bynoe of Arthur Smith Primary School, who was winner among primary school students, received a standing ovation for his views on the importance of the tourist industry.
Sankara Price of Alexandra Secondary School took first prize among “lower secondary” schools while Jakita Connell of Queen’s College took first prize among “upper secondary” schools.
Chief judge of the competition, Keith Miller of Miller Publishing, said the winning entries, from a list of 78, were well written and spoke “straight from the heart”. (TY)
