Dwayne Smith could have a new role for the Barbados cricket team early in the New Year.
The dashing all-rounder is a likely candidate to open the batting in the 2011 Caribbean Twenty20 tournament beginning in Antigua on January 10.A hint of Smith moving up to the top of the order was provided yesterday when he opened the batting for Barbados in a practice match against the Combined Campuses and Colleges at the 3Ws Oval.
He looked the part with some positive shots in a knock of 42 off 38 balls that helped Barbados to a six-wicket victory. Here, Smith plays though the on-side.
