ALTAR CALL: Christ is the answer

WHEN TROPICAL?STORM Tomas swept through Barbados on October 29, it ripped apart the huge tent which the congregation of Christ Is The Answer Family Church at Little Battaley’s in St Peter called their sanctuary.
Not daunted by their dilemma, pastor Reverend Edwin Bullen and assistant pastor Reverend John Griffith have embarked on a rebuilding programme that will see a concrete structure going up on the site where the tent once stood.
This will take time; money; labour; of course, lots of prayer; and support from individuals like yourselves who are being encouraged to give to this worthy cause.
It is with all this in mind that the church family embarked on a week of prayer and fasting. And when Altar Call visited the members at The Alexandra School hall last Friday night, they stood in a large circle holding hands and praying for the needs of Barbados, the ecclesia, the youth, families, the Government and more.
Prayers were already said during the week for the needs of the church. However, Friday was special. One by one, members prayed for the youth in various communities; schools; churches; prayed against peer pressure, bullying, lesbianism, homosexuality, the use of drugs; prayed for gangs; and against rebellion to those in authority.
Earlier, worship leader Cindy Edwards led the congregation in songs of dedication.
Those rendered were I’ll Say Yes, Lord Yes; I’m Trading My Sorrows; Lord, I Give You My Heart; and I Give Myself Away.
Church member Roxanne Britton delivered a sermonette in which she asked the church to stand in faith believing God to answer their prayers.
She told her fellow believers that God was listening to each prayer being sent up during the seven-day period.
“We know that God is hearing us. The Bible says that His ears are always open to the prayers of the righteous.
“We also see in 1 John 5: 14-15: “And this is the confidence [assurance] which we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He listens and  hears us. And if we know that he listens to whatever we ask, we also know [with absolute knowledge] that we have the requests made of Him,” she stated.
She also advised them to wait patiently for the manifestation of the answers to their prayers.
“Let us not fall prey to unbelief, for God is not pleased with unbelief. Everything is possible [through Christ] to those who believe,” she stressed.
Britton said the only way the church could keep its faith level up while waiting was by confessing and meditating on God’s Word.
“If we look outside of God’s Word we will fall. God is not a man that He should lie nor the son of man that He should repent. Hath He said and shall not He do it? Hath He spoken and shall not ye make it good?” she asked.
She said many individuals were depending on the prayers which were being sent up to God, and encouraged the church leaders to be bold in their negotiations to have the new church built.
Since Tropical Storm Tomas, this church family have been holding services at the Alexandra School.
Your assistance to the church’s building programme would be greatly appreciated.
