‘Feteing in hard times’

FORMER?Cabinet Minister Trevor Prescod lambasted the Freundel Stuart Administration for spending $132 000 on a carnival when the cost of living and unemployment were rising.
He was referring to a Democratic Labour Party fete in Martin’s Bay held over the weekend, while he spoke on behalf of Barbados Labour Party candidate Hudson Griffith, last night in Gall Hill, St John.
“We have serious problems in this country. There are those who are getting fat and flaunting their wealth in your face, while you struggle to pay utility bills. It is hard to understand how $132 000 can be spent in these times on a carnival, a circus.
“Errol Barrow would not have done it. I am shocked that a man who has a darker pigmentation than I have can lead a party and participate in something that appears to be unorthodox to his character because nobody expects to see Freundel Stuart wukking up!”
Prescod said the Martin’s Bay fete would not have done anything for Barbadians. (MK)
