ALTAR CALL – Church praying for City revival

WHEN WE are walking righteous before God we avail much. However, if our lives are not right, we are defeated.
It was this and many other biblical truths that were uttered when members of Mission House Ministries, headed by Pastor Hannah Alleyne, met at Mount Moriah Guest House in Beckles Hill, St Michael, last Friday night. They have been locking themselves indoors each weekend for the past four weeks to pray for revival in The City.
Altogether, they will spend seven weekends at Mount Moriah, praying and fasting on behalf of Bridgetown and its environs that, among other things, the lives of City folk would be transformed.
Along with Alleyne, they were two other main speakers during the all-night meeting.
Alleyne noted that throughout the Old Testament particularly, there were many examples of how God moved on behalf of Israel when the people obeyed and walked righteous before Him.
“We become undefeated when we take up our [spiritual] weapons and do what God says – to pull down strongholds,” she declared.
She added: “Many Christians are not walking or moving the way God wants them to. As a result, Satan is subduing our society. If we as Christians live right, we give God access in a mighty way.”
Sister Deidre Leacock added that the Church must walk in unity.
As she spoke of Joshua’s victory when God favoured him and the Israelites and gave them back the land of Jericho, as promised, she encouraged those present to have faith and allow God to fight their battles for them.
She reminded them that God, through His power, even parted the Red Sea for Joshua and the children of Israel to escape from their enemies. What more wouldn’t He do?” she asked.
Taking her texts from the Book Of Ezekiel, Sister Shontelle Young spoke of how even the angels moved in unison at God’s command and as they carried out His work.
She also stressed that the authority of God’s spoken Word was relevant even today.
Pastor Kurt Bynoe, who along with other members, including Hazel Johnson, Barry Harewood, Mario Ramsay and special guest June Haynes, also led in prayer or just shared from his heart, said not many people were hearing from God today simply because they were not listening.
He too spoke of the need to walk in unity and for Christians to humble themselves and allow God  to take the lead.
“We must walk in unity and travail in prayer in order to prevail,” he stressed.
The night’s meeting was punctuated with praise and worship, as those gathered broke into singing.
Shout To The Lord, Those That Wait Upon The Lord, In Times Like These and Farther Along were among the songs rendered.
The members also took time out just after 10 p.m. to partake in Holy Communion – also referred to as Breaking of Bread – before recommencing their weekend of prayer and fasting.
