It’s a pain only a mother can know: that of having a mischievous child bent on giving trouble.
But that doesn’t stop Maxine Breedy from loving her 13-year-old son Jabali unconditionally, even now as he has once again run away.
The second form Parkinson Memorial School student of Gittens Road, Government Hill, St Michael, was last seen by his mum on Tuesday about 10:15 p.m. at home.
Yesterday as Breedy reflected on the numerous times he has run away since he turned 11, she told the DAILY NATION she just wanted him to return home.
Breedy said she had been to her son’s school the same Tuesday evening, and had received bad reports from most teachers, among them missing school.
“When we left the meeting, we were outside the gate waiting for his father to collect us, and he told me he wanted to use the bathroom,” she recalled.
That was the last time she saw the fleet-footed athlete until some time late in the night when he came home.
“He turned up here the night, and he refused to come inside as usual; but when he did, I gave him some lashes. We all went to bed, but the next morning I got up he was gone,” she stated.
The mother of three said every time Jabali ran away, he always returned home, or had been to another relative’s house.
“This time around he has not been to see any of the family members,” she stated.
Jabali who is about four feet tall, of slim build, fair complexion, with a round head, oval face, flat forehead, flat nose, small mouth, protruding lips and a chipped front tooth, walks with an erect stance and has a pleasant manner. He is said to frequent the Ivy and Gittens Road area.
The police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the missing boy, and anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the District “A” Police Station at 430-7242/7246, or Operations Control at 430-7100. (RJ)
