Christ Church Girls’ and Bayleys Primary are the champions of the 2011 Pine Hill National Primary Schools’ Athletic Championships.
Earlier today at the National Stadium, Christ Church finished with 107 points to win their third title, while Bayleys passed four-time champions Charles F. Broome in the very last event, finishing with 78 points in a much closer race.
Christ Church Girls’ won the first event to get their campaign underway and were steady throughout, but had to overcome Williams Industries West Terrace who took over the lead in the evening. Fading at the end, they had 96 points, followed by Roland Edwards (80), Bayleys (74) and Hillaby Turner’s Hall on 72.
Early leaders Charles F. Broome lost the title because they didn’t have a team in the final relay. They were ahead by two points at that time, and ended with 70 points. The West Terrace lads were third with 65 points, four more than Milton Lynch Primary and Eden Lodge took the fifth spot with 54 points.
