Barbadians were swift with their responses when it was announced yesterday that they will have to pay more for electricity.
The announcement came from Chief Marketing Officer at the Barbados Light and Power Stephen Worme, who said the hike in fuel costs has resulted in the ten per cent increase which customers will have to pay by month end.
The Nation’s online readers were vocal on the extra they will have to shell out for this utility bill, which follows on the heels of increases in flour and LPG.
This is what some had to say.
Caroline Clarke said: “We must stand up and protest against this travesty. BL &P can just  announce a price hike, just so? Bajans wake up… United we stand, divided we fall. Enough is enough; bread, biscuits, chicken, flour, gas, gasoline, bus fares but not your salaries and you now pay for your medication. How much can we take?”
Will Connah said: “It’s happening all over. They (BL&P) should be able to cut somewhere before charging more to the public”.
Nicole Forde said: “Lord help us. More rising cost [but] no pay rise”.
Miranda Douglas wrote: “It seems nowadays you are just working to pay bills”. (CM)
