Thorough clean-up for Garrison

NOT ONE, but four companies are working to give the Garrison Secondary School an industrial cleaning, following expressions of concern about asbestos.
But whether classes will resume this week after the recess remains unclear.
Principal Matthew Farley said yesterday that two days had been allocated for cleaning and the school would be opened once the cleaning was completed.
But he could not confirm whether classes would resume on Wednesday, saying that no one knew what the future held.
Early last month, both teachers and students stayed away after asbestos roofing sheets fell from a derelict building at the edge of the school compound. “Cleaning is going on along the entire compound,” Farley reported.
“The issue is not asbestos [in the school]. It is simply that the agreement was made that once the asbestos roofing was removed, cleaning would commence, and that is what is happening.”
He said the four companies were working simultaneously to clean the school.
