Dancehall artiste Mavado is now on bail in the sum of $30,000 on assault charges. Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks was charged with assault after an altercation at The Quad nightclub in Kingston early yesterday morning. The Half-Way-Tree police had earlier listed both him and entertainer Bounty Killer as persons of interest. Following advisory, both men reported to the police. Bounty Killer was questioned and released but Mavado was charged after it was alleged that he assaulted a cop, who attempted to search him at the club. Our news centre understands that a member of Mavado’s entourage was also involved in an altercation with police personnel on the steps of nightclub in New Kingston. It is further understood that a cop was allegedly slapped in the face by a member of Mavado’s crew. The policeman then allegedly opened fire hitting Mavado’s crew-member. He was admitted to hospital.
