The Sport of Kings has a new customer. Actually, it has new customers.
In another effort to increase its profile, the Barbados Turf Club yesterday held a special race day aligned to the annual Crop Over Festival, in an effort to get more fans to the racetrack.
And it certainly appeared to work yesterday.
With races bearing names usually associated with this time of year, such as Soca Royale, Grand Kadooment and Cohobbolopot, scores of visitors were on hand at the historic circuit for the special nine-race programme.
Here, Sail On, ridden by Jalon Samuels, is finishing strong to win yesterday’s Cohobbolopot Handicap ahead of Volcanic with Antonio Bishop aboard.
