NO AMOUNT OF rain could stop the Digicel CSS Red Hot Cohobblopot jam on Sunday night but enforcement did.
In mid-wuk up to Machel’s Big Truck, the sound was cut as police shut down the penultimate event on the official Crop Over calendar.
Shocked fans were looking around with the puzzled Dis Ting Cyaan Be Ovah look on their faces, as they tried to get a grip on what had occurred.
The agreement between producer the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), and the Royal Barbados Police Force, was for the show to end at 1 a.m. with half hour grace period. Machel took to the stage at midnight and was given the half hour grace. Police pulled the plug at 1:40 a.m. early this morning.
This year’s show was broken down into four segments. The first saw performances by De Devil, Reddman, Gorg, TC, TC and Peter Ram, Peter Ram, Mistah  Dale, Alison, Blood, Li’l Rick and Biggie Irie.
These acts were great appetizers for the night of entertainment that lay ahead.
Next up were the Monarchs, all of whom were first-time winners. Calypso Monarch Popsicle did a great play on his fair theme as an introduction to his popular I Would Pick A Fair, which fans lapped up. He was followed by Sweet Soca champ Red Plastic Bag and Party Monarch Mikey.
Big band krosfyah was up next, and even though the set would have been familiar to those who would have done the numerous fetes during the season, fans had a blast.
They partied to hits like Chrissen, Down De Road, All Night Long, Bashment Bacchanal, Cova De Road, Sak Pase, Good Time and Ready to Go.It was then time for main act Machel and the HD Family.
