Top cop: Stay calm!

DON’T PANIC.
That was the advice to Barbadians from Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin yesterday over their alarm about the recent spate of crimes, heightened by last Tuesday’s double murder of 79-year-old Arthur “Fred” Chaderton and his son-in-law Austrian-born Gerhart Metamara Stock, 44.
“Our analysis of the most recent incidents is leading our investigations in a particular direction, which I hope to share with the public in due course,” Dottin said, noting those killings sparked much public discussion on the acts themselves and the state of crime.
“From the month of June, we have taken note of at least ten crime incidents where some of them were very disturbing,” he said. “I draw attention to one in particular, the aggravated burglary committed in Cane Garden, St Thomas, and two others on the South Coast where they have been given unprecedented wide coverage both in the traditional media and social outlets.” (TS)
