Bushy Park upgrade

Government waved the green flag last night, giving the go-ahead to the long-awaited Bushy Park Redevelopment Plan.
In the Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals tabled yesterday in the House of Assembly, Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler announced that Government would shortly be leasing the Bushy Park facility to the motorsports community to “facilitate a full upgrade of the race track and adjoining facilities to international standards”.
Sinckler said that part of the resources came via a grant from the International Racing Federation (FIA) which oversees all motorsports, and in a further boost, effective September 1, “all sporting vehicles, equipment and gear temporarily imported for the sole purpose of competitive activities will be exempted from VAT”.
Under the agreement, the Government will lease the land to the Barbados Motoring Club (BMC), the umbrella organization for the Barbados Rally Club (BRC), the Barbados Auto Racing League and the Motoring Club of Barbados Inc. (SAT)
