Chief Justice misses quake

“I just didn’t feel it.”
Like millions of New Yorkers, Barbados’ Chief Justice Designate Marston Gibson was reacting to the 5.8 magnitude earthquake whose epicentre was in Virginia but felt in New York, and that left no serious injury or damage to anyone in its wake.
Gibson had just struck the first few notes and sang the opening lyrics of the Bob Marley classic No Women, No Cry, when the second floor conference room of the New York State Supreme Court Complex in Mineola Long Island started to shake.
“I didn’t even realize there was an earthquake at the time, said Gibson, who was being hailed at a farewell reception where he was presented with a plaque, congratulated by judges, attorneys and other court officers and then asked to play his guitar and to sing. (TB)
