A CAVE?HILL, St Michael family is today mourning the loss of a loved one, who died in a vehicular accident last night.
Dead is Michael Clarke, 53, of Castries Road, who was crossing the Cummins section of the ABC Highway around 7:45 p.m.
Police said he was involved in an accident with a motorcycle driven by Ron Lithcott, 32, of Free Hill, Black Rock, St Michael.
Clarke died on the spot.
He was the 19th road fatality for this year.
It came hours after the General Insurance Association of Barbados (GIAB) appealed to all road users: motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution in the use of the road.
In a statement yesterday the GIAB stated that it was very concerned with “the frequency of motor accidents and is further alarmed at the number of road deaths so far for the year”.
In recent weeks the Barbados Road Safety Association has pleaded with Barbadians to exercise due care and attention while travelling.
The association also asked motorists to show respect for pedestrians using the road. (CA)
