Colleagues from the world of academia as well as other friends and family of Barbados’ newest knight, Sir Woodville Marshall, celebrated with the Barbadian historian at his Paradise Heights home hours after he was presented with the insignia of office by Governor General Sir Clifford Husbands at Government House.
Sir Woodville was the sole knight in the list of honorees named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours last June, in recognition of his service to education.
The professor emeritus and former University of the West Indies (UWI) pro vice chancellor and his wife Dawn, Lady Marshall, hosted an intimate gathering of guests at the informal reception that included Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, UWI Cave Hill Campus principal Sir Hilary Beckles, and retired UWI Cave Hill principal Sir Keith Hunte.
Sir Woodville’s daughter Elsa Wilson, son Philip, Marshall siblings Judith Springer and coroner Faith Marshall-Harris and her husband Raul attended.
