Haiti tour doubt

BARBADOS’ participation in the upcoming Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-20 Women’s Qualifying group in Haiti is under threat because of health and security issues.
Fearful of their children contracting cholera given the possibility of being in an unsanitary environment, a number of parents have decided not to allow their wards to travel to the earthquake-ravished French-speaking country.
A change in the composition of the original groups has resulted in Barbados being placed in Group C with host country Haiti, the British Virgin Islands and St Kitts for a round-robin contest to be played from October 31 to November 4.
The concerned parents met with chairperson of the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) women’s committee, Sylvia Darlington, and assistant manager Sasha Sutherland at Paradise Park, Lazaretto, last Sunday but the issues remained unresolved. (EZS)
