No big fish catches

MANAGER OF THE Bridgetown Fisheries Complex, Keith Henry, is not too optimistic about the coming fishing season.
In an interview yesterday he said he was no expert, but he believed the season starting in December will be worse than the one that finished last April.
“I am of the opinion that this coming fishing season would be worse than the one that just passed. Flying fish was bad. Up here was a ghost town through June, July, August and September,” he told the WEEKEND?NATION.
He added: “The most we used to pay for ten flying fish was $10. Sometimes you get them at $8. This year, because they were so scarce people sold flying fish at $18 a pack.
“Some dolphins are no more than about 13 inches long. If you go out there now and look in the three back stalls you would see people out there have dolphins and you would not recognize that they are dolphins, but they are dolphins.
We are accustomed to big dolphins.”
Whatever the season holds, the Fisheries Complex at Princess Alice Highway, St Michael, has pressed ahead with its enhancement project, installing display cabinets around fish stalls. (AH)
