Drug find at the Port

Police have arrested a man for drugs at the Bridgetown Port.
Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch, in a release this evening, stated that Melvin Nolan Cumberbatch, 39, of Hopewell, St Andrew, was arrested and charged today for possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of 17.87 kgs.
According to the release: “On Tuesday October 4,  2011, personnel of the Customs Enforcement carried out an operation at the Bridgetown Port where a consignment of coal contained in three polyphene bags onboard a motor vessel was searched, and the contraband discovered”.
After investigations were conducted, Cumberbatch was arrested. He is expected to appear at the District A Magistrate Court tomorrow. (PR/CM)
