Lodge to appeal court ruling

The principal and board of management of The Lodge School are preparing to appeal a court judgment which recently resulted in a teacher winning a case against the school.
Principal Trevor Pilgrim said yesterday that the case – which will see teacher Wismar Gibson being compensated after he was overlooked for a permanent position – had been heard without his or the board’s knowledge.
In a statement, the principal said he was never notified that dates had been set, and as far as he was aware, “the board of management of the Lodge School, similarly, never received any notification relating to the dates set for this matter”.
Pilgrim also said he and the board were not given the opportunity as witnesses to defend their position in court.
