Sir?Roy?Trotman, general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), has written to the management of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) requesting a meeting today to discuss the issue that led to a work stoppage at the corporation yesterday.
As a result, the close to 75 disgruntled employees who participated in the industrial action have been advised to return to work today pending the outcome of the meeting.
The employees from all departments across the corporation assembled outside its Pine, St Michael offices for the entire day quietly protesting what they perceived to be a case of supersession.
They were apparently in disagreement with the promotion of Michelle Arthur, who was news editor in charge of assignments, to the post of acting director of news and current affairs while Arnon Dyal, who was acting in that position since September, was returned, as of yesterday, to his substantive post of news editor.
