Julian “Michael Jackson” White is still burning up on the island’s road tennis courts.
Actually, he’s been on fire for nine years now.
White won an unprecedented ninth BNB Racquets of Fire title Wednesday night, easily disposing of Curtis Jones in a three-set demolition at the Deacons Hard courts.
And road tennis fans can get more of White on Sunday, when he competes in the Tennis Pon De Rock exhibition, playing against French showman Gael Monfils, a professional player on the ATP tour.
White was in no mood to take prisoners in Wednesday’s final, and before a large crowd at the home of road tennis, had things his way all night. Having already painted on his racquet that he was No. 1, the crowd-pleasing White then showed exactly why.
Here, White is a picture of concentration playing a forehand shot Wednesday night. (BA)
