The saying about everybody loving a winner was expanded to encompass the conquered as the 2011 champions of the Guardian General NSC/Herman Griffith, Bayley’s Primary and the losing finalists, Charles F. Broome, were presented with cricketing gear and money during the week.
Bayley’s were given a large set of cricketing gear at the studios of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation by Kreeda Caribbean with owner Erskine Branch expressing deep pride in the performance of the St Philip team in once again taking the crown for primary school supremacy.
Principal Lorraine Burke in the presence of coaches Ulric Batson and Winfield Forde expressed the School’s appreciation towards Branch who was described as a former parent at Bayley’s and who had been providing transportation for the School for over six years.
Powerhouse Charles F. Broome might have tripped at the final hurdle of this year’s NSC competition but the Oxbridge Bank and Trust Group still view the Government Hill students as champions.
The Oxbridge Group through Joy Williams made a financial contribution to Charles F. Broome Primary at the School on Government Hill. Williams’ son Rey Williams who was a standout cricketer also made a presentation to Ajani Ince who set a record in the finals by taking eight wickets for nine runs including an unprecedented hat-trick.
