Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin says there’s no evidence of police wrongdoing in the death of 35-year-old Curtis Callender, who died on December 1 while in custody at Oistins Station.
Speaking at the 135th Passing Out Parade yesterday at the Regional Police Training Centre, Dottin said public outcry was understandable but there was no evidence of any wrong doing on the part of the Police Force.

“An autopsy was conducted in the presence of the deceased’s family members and their legal representative and a coroner’s inquiry will follow, but there is nothing to indicate that there was police misconduct.”
Dottin said allegations of ill-treatment in methods used to extract confessions had resulted in the force being seen in a negative light but gave the assurance steps were being taken to improve the force’s image.
