Double smash

AT THE START of the New Year, Barbados recorded two serious accidents – two hours apart.
According to police reports, six people were injured in a three-car smash-up in Hinds Hill, St Michael around 2:30 a.m. yesterday and another two people were involved in an accident in Fortress Hill, St Thomas.
In the first accident Dario Phillips 20, of Bridgetown, St Thomas has been hospitalized with serious injuries.
In the second accident, driver Dr Julian Samuel, 24 of Husbands Heights, St James, suffered a broken right leg and was detained while his passenger Jessica Folkes, who received cuts to her body, was treated and discharged from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The accident occurred around 4:40 a.m. with the vehicle plunging more than 150 feet and landing on Content Main Road, St Thomas.
Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch yesterday called on motorists and pedestrians to exercise due care while using the road.
