Too shy to talk to him myself

Dear Christine,
I WANT TO WISH YOU A BLESSED 2012, and at the same time hope you can assist me.
I am a 19-year-old woman who has been admiring a young man who works in the same area as I do for the past five months. The thing is, I do not know how to tell him that I’d like to be his friend. I am extremely shy and talking to people does not come that easily – especially when I consider them to be special – like this guy.    
I have told my best friend about him and she believes she should approach him on my behalf. She is the complete opposite of me and can talk a fly into walking. Do you think I should let her?

Dear Shy,
I see absolutely nothing wrong in having your friend speak to this young man for you. Many relationships are often born this way – with a little help from friends. I hope a special friendship will be the ultimate result.
