PTA president clears the air

President of the Alexandra School’s Parent Teacher Association, Carl Benskin, took a huge step forward on Wednesday, saying the body was in full support of the school’s principal Jeff Broomes.
Yesterday, he took a huge step back.
Saying that his statements on Wednesday after a two-and-a-half hour meeting with peeved parents had been made in good faith, the first-time president yesterday admitted his eagerness got the better of him, and he made a personal statement which echoed his sentiments and not those of the association.
“I have been contacted and spoken to in a very cordial manner and asked to retract statements made to the Press in good faith, since these statements might have caused the true meaning of the adopted resolution [the PTA’s four-point-plan] to be misunderstood or miscommunicated,” Benskin said in the statement.
