Principal Jeff Broomes had very little to say yesterday following Prime Minister Freundel Stuart’s announcement that the 30 striking teachers would return to the classrooms at Alexandra School tomorrow.
When contacted for his reaction to the statements made by the Prime Minister, Broomes responded: “I?don’t know what he based his comments on, so I?can’t respond to what he said.”
Asked how he felt about the return of the striking teachers, who had previously vowed not to go back to the classroom as long as he was at the helm, Broomes stated: “I will continue to do my job the best way I?can. They are the ones who said they can’t work with me. I?never said I?can’t work with anyone. I?never left my job. I would have liked them to be teaching from Day 1. I did not want the children to suffer anymore and the Prime Minister has made his assessment.”
Broomes was not at the St Peter school when Stuart announced the temporary resolution to the 20-day impasse.
