Market plan out

PAUL DOYLE, the businessman behind the Skeete’s Bay, St Philip multimillion-dollar tourism development project, says he is willing to shelve the proposal to transform the fish market into a seafood restaurant.
“It seems to me 100 per cent of the controversy is on this fish market. So it makes sense for us to take it off the table. Give us time to work with the community and I can assure everyone that nothing would go forward without a full buy-in from the community and especially from the fishermen,” Doyle told the SUNDAY SUN in an interview.
His comments came after residents of the area charged at a town hall meeting a week ago that the project could have a negative social impact on their communities.
But Doyle, who is the owner of The Crane Resort, said neither the main hotel, Beach Houses At Culpepper earmarked to cost about $500 million and provide more than 300 jobs, nor the proposed fish market restoration would have any negative effect on residents or their accustomed lifestyles.
