SEVERAL FORMER DIRECTORS OF CLICO International Life (CIL) have sought to distance themselves from a string of financial irregularities uncovered by Deloitte Canada during its recent forensic audit of the insurance company.
These range from numerous unsettled loans and high-priced investments to hefty legal fees paid to friends and business associates.
But in a bid to clear his name, as well as those of other former non-executive members of the CIL board, prominent attorney at law Leslie Haynes, QC, has pleaded ignorance of any of such transactions.
He further maintained that the non-executive directors had absolutely no prior knowledge of the irregularities revealed in the 39-page audit document.
