Mottley: BLP now on ‘mission transformation’

From mission critical to mission survival during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) has now moved to mission transformation, said Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.

Delivering the feature address earlier tonight during the 87th annual general conference at St George Secondary School, she said the people of Barbados had voted in February to give them a mandate “to build what they have not yet seen, and to correct what we have not yet fixed”.

This year’s conference is under the theme Building Beyond the Victory. It was the first major gathering since the BLP secured the third successive 30-0 victory at the polls and she thanked both party and electorate.

And while she described the victory as humbling, she said it was not for a prolonged celebration.

“Victory gives us the opportunity to serve,” she said. “What we do with that opportunity is always the real test.”

In reaffirming the philosophy of the party “to stop poor people from being poor, to maintain fairness and justice and to fight injustice wherever it presents itself”, she said Government must represent the whole country. (Nation News Desk)
