Two EXECUTIVE BOARD members of the Barbados Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) have just returned from Miami, Florida, where they participated
in the IABC Leadership Institute. Vice-President (finance) Lynda Holder and Vice-President (marketing and membership) Sharon Marshall attended the conference late last month.
The Leadership Institute is an opportunity for IABC chapter, regional and international leaders to come together to share best practices in communication and learn how to create programmes and services to keep members active and involved.
Topics covered during the intensive three-day conference included Using Social Media To Expand Your Chapter’s Digital Footprint, Professional Development Events That Work, How To Build And Sustain A Thriving Mentoring Programme, Watching The Books: An IABC Chapter/Region Finance Discussion, and Building Accreditation In Your Chapter: A Roundup Of Best Practices.
“Leadership Institute was a wonderful opportunity to network with other communication professionals from around the world who are serving in leadership positions with IABC,” said Holder. “The finance discussions were of particular interest to me.”
Marshall said: “I wish that more members of the IABC Barbados executive board could have attended the Leadership Institute, but the VP finance and I will do our best to communicate the major lessons we learned from our participation so that we can enhance the quality of service to our members for the remainder of our term.”
IABC is a global network of communication professionals committed to improving organizational effectiveness via strategic communication.
Established in 1970, the organization is headquartered in San Francisco, California. It serves more than 15 000 members in 67 countries, 100 chapters and 10 000 organizations.
The IABC Barbados chapter was established in 2008
