Farmers, St Thomas, was turned into a temporary parade ground yesterday by the victorious Hillaby Turner’s Hall athletic team.
The children marched, laughed, danced and sang throughout the district in celebration of the school’s winning both the boys and girls divisions of the Anton Norris Zone of the Pine Hill Dairy National Primary Schools’ Athletic Championships.
Principal Karen Best said the “walkcade” would be followed by tributes and a special lunch for the athletes.
The school also boasted a victor ludorum in Torian Waldron, who shared that title with divisional Under-11 champion Nicholi Peters of St James Primary and Raheem Taitt-Best of St Martin’s Mangrove.
Waldron said he “felt good” and planned to continue track and field in secondary school.
