FAS ENTERTAINMENT is this year giving reggae fans a special treat with the biggest cast of performers in the eight-year history of the annual Barbados Reggae Festival.
The festival this year features four massive events with such major superstars as Jah Cure, Third World, Admiral Tibet, Capelton, Konshens and the man with today’s biggest dancehall hit – Mr Vegas.
The festival launches on Sunday, April 22, with the youth-oriented Digicel Reggae Beach Party at Brandon’s Beach on the Spring Garden Highway.
Heading the chart-topping dancehall acts are Mr Vegas and Baby Cham whose recent hits are dominating local and international airwaves. They will be well supported by a strong Barbadian cast featuring the popular Crimeson of Doan Ask Me fame along with Fari, Peter Ram, Most Wanted and many others.
On Friday, April 27, the 3Ws area at The Mecca – Kensington Oval becomes the new home for the ever-popular Digicel Vintage Reggae Party, now a magnet for both older and younger generation reggae fans with its cast of legendary performers.
This unique event will see the thousands of patrons dancing and signing along to such evergreen performers as Ernie Smith, Freddy McGregor, Glen Washington, Admiral Tibet, and Barbados’ own dynamic Wendy Alleyne and Mike Grosvenor.
Friday, April 29, all local talent takes the spotlight during the Digicel Bajan Reggae Night also in the 3Ws area with over 20 of the best acts, including The High Grade Band, Buggy Nhakente and Hotta Flames to name a few.
Sunday, April 29 sees the climax of this year’s Digicel Barbados Reggae Festival with the massive, all-day family affair, Reggae on the Hill, at the picturesque 30-acre Farley Hill National Park in St Peter.
The usual full house of thousands on the Hill will enjoy ten hours of non-stop entertainment from a cast of reggae music’s biggest superstars including Jah Cure, Konshens, Everton Blender, Third World, Capelton, Tanya Stephens
and Chris Martins along with some of the biggest local acts in the industry today. (PR)
