IMPULSE, skippered by Neil Burke, cemented its position as the front-runner in the 2012 Range Rover J-24 National Championships when they won two of three races in the annual Consumer Guarantee Insurance (CGI) regatta last Saturday in Carlisle Bay.
Eleven yachts contested the final day of the two-day CGI regatta in challenging afternoon wind conditions where the Impulse crew proved too strong for their rivals in Race 1 and Race 3.
The second race was won by Paul Johnson’s Sumtins Happnin, while Robert Povey’s Hawk Eye registered runner-up places in the second and third races.
The CGI regatta was organised by the J24-Club of Barbados and emerged as a pivotal event in the race for the championship, while drawing the best from sailing teams in varying wind conditions.
