Bajan may face Guyana lawsuit

The Barbadian behind payment collection agency Bill Direct is facing the possibility of a multi-million-dollar law suit in Guyana as the state-owned power company tries to recover money which it says his business owes.
GPL confirmed that it was considering instituting legal proceedings against Dwayne Roach personally to recover US$940 000 (BDS$1.8 million) which it alleges his company collected but never passed on.
“The company may be inclined to do so if all other options prove futile and/or inadequate,” chief executive officer (CEO) Bharat Dindyal told the WEEKEND NATION.
He explained that Bill Direct – which has 50 plus outlets in Guyana and collects payments for about nine businesses – took money from GPL’s customers and was to remit it to the power company twice per week.
