Not the way, BWU tells BNB

ANOTHER PAY DISPUTE between the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and a major employer is headed for the Labour Department, even as negotiations to resolve the union’s impasse with LIME remain in limbo.
BWU general secretary Sir Roy Trotman outlined the disagreement with the Barbados National Bank (BNB) yesterday at the same time he cautioned that the row with Cable & Wireless (trading as LIME) was moving closer to industrial action.
Sir Roy said an April 4 date had been set for talks at the Labour Department with BNB, following the bank’s “disgusting” move to revert to a lesser pay offer as negotiations dragged into two years.
“It makes a farce of the entire exercise. They’re not really serious,” he told a Press conference called to discuss several labour issues yesterday.
