Task force soon on buildings

GOVERNMENT is to step up its efforts to preserve historic buildings.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)  yesterday, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley said he would take a proposal to Cabinet to set up a task force to assist with the sourcing of funds.
Lashley said there was an obligation to market and do everything possible to preserve Bridgetown and its Garrison and ensure that the maximum benefit was gained.
The minister, speaking on the theme Making Business Sense of the UNESCO Inscription, suggested people in the business and other sectors had to join as partners to reap the benefits.
