Getting ready for 11-plus

HUNDREDS OF CLASS 4 PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS returned to their classrooms during the Easter vacation for extra lessons in mathematics and English in preparation for the May 8 Common Entrance Examination.
The DAILY NATION visited a number of the busy schools, taking in the atmosphere and chatting with teachers who volunteered to work with the students.
Teacher Andrea Henry at Hillaby Turner’s Hall, St Thomas, said that the more than 70 Class 4 students were excited to be attending the lessons, a clear sign that they understood the importance of the examination.
“I have had this class from since they were in Class 3 and we have been doing preparations from since then. [This] is helping to keep them focused and helping to maintain their interest and goals as they prepare for what Barbados calls the big day.”
